Data Analyst
As a Data Analyst within the Operations (OPS) domain, you will have a large scope and wide stakeholder landscape to keep you always learning something new about airport operations. You will help your stakeholders to fine tune existing KPIs, explore and develop new ones, and align definitions against the vast datasets at your disposal. You will be in the frontline of creating tangible intelligence that will be used in decision making by colleagues ranging from senior management to those in critical operational roles.
This role is not focused on engineering or data engineering tasks — instead, the emphasis is on explorative analyses, KPI development, and senior stakeholder management within the Operations domain.
Your key deliverables will include:
• Support the OPS domain in delivering accurate, actionable performance dashboards and insights to stakeholders;
• Understand operational processes and help formulate the most relevant business and analysis questions;
• Define meaningful KPIs together with business stakeholders, perform explorative data analyses, and translate these functional definitions into precise logic and calculations;
• Explore, assess and validate the data quality and usability of existing and new datasets;
• Ensure consistent interpretation of KPIs across different stakeholder groups by formalizing and documenting definitions;
• Act as a bridge between business requirements and OPS data products to ensure alignment between requirements and end results;
• Actively manage relationships with a wide range of senior stakeholders, ensuring expectations are met and insights are actionable.
To succeed in this role, you should bring the following skills and experience:
• 3+ years of working in a data team, with meaningful experience in data analytics. Aviation-related experience is a big plus;
• HBO-level education in analytics, econometrics, sciences, business analytics, or related fields with a strong quantitative component (a pure engineering profile is not required);
• Demonstrated experience in KPI development and explorative analysis;
• Strong senior stakeholder management skills and the ability to translate business needs into data-driven insights;
• Ability to tell compelling stories with data and present outcomes effectively to stakeholders;
• Comfortable participating in Agile ceremonies and adhering to Scrum processes;
• Proficiency in Python is a hard requirement, including experience with Pandas. Knowledge of PySpark and visualization libraries (Plotly or Matplotlib) is a strong plus;
• Experience working in PowerBI, and familiar with related concepts such as semantic models and DAX;
• Knowledge of Streamlit and/or Collibra is a plus;
• Excellent communication skills, including fluency in Dutch and a good working level of English is required.
In this role, you will take on an independent and leading position within the Operations domain and report weekly on sprint activities to the Product Owner and team. Your contribution will be discussed and qualitatively assessed by the team and relevant stakeholders.
Schiphol will provide a laptop and, if necessary, access to internal systems. You will work from the SHG (Schipholhoofdgebouw) with the option to work from home (approximately 2 days per week) in consultation, if the project allows.
You will work a maximum of 32 hours per week.
