Data Mesh Transformation / Domain Enablement Lead

As part of the strategic Unlock Data program at KPN, we are moving from centralized data management to a decentralized data mesh operating model. To support this transformation, we are looking to hire a senior data mesh consultant who will play a key role in enabling the KPN organization to work in this new way of working. Below is the role profile we are aiming for. Role overview We are looking for a Data Mesh Transformation / Domain Enablement Lead. This person will combine strong data mesh expertise with the ability to actively engage, convince, and enable stakeholders across business and IT. The role is critical in: · Onboarding domains into the data mesh way of working · Driving change and adoption, not just design · Training non-technical audiences, helping them understand and apply data mesh principles in practice. Key responsibilities · Execute domain onboarding into the data mesh operating model. · Translate data mesh principles into concrete, actionable ways of working for domains. · Actively engage with senior stakeholders, build trust, and convince people of the new model. · Play a central role in enablement and training, especially for non-technical stakeholders (business leads, data owners, managers). · Help clarify and embed roles, responsibilities, and ownership in a decentralized data setup. · Act as a thought partner within Unlock Data to continuously improve the rollout of the model. · Develop and maintain trainings related to way of workings. Required profile Must-have · Proven data mesh experience (practical experience, not only theory). · Strong stakeholder management, communication and PowerPoint skills · Experience with business transformation and organizational change. · Ability to explain complex concepts in clear, accessible language. · English: mandatory. Preferred · Dutch language skills (strong preference). · Experience in telco or large, complex enterprise environments. Note: Data mesh expertise is more important than telco experience. Role positioning This is a senior role (lead/principal level). We are explicitly not looking for a pure technical architect or a pure change manager, but someone who can bridge strategy, change, and practical execution.
