We are looking for a Senior Observability Engineer who thinks beyond tools and dashboards, and instead approaches observability as a platform and product. This role is not about maintaining an existing stack, it is about redefining and evolving our observability ecosystem. Over the coming months, you will play a key engineering leadership role in a major observability stack transformation, shaping the vision, architecture, and adoption of a modern, scalable observability platform. You will work across teams to move from reactive monitoring toward proactive, insight-driven engineering. You will be expected to challenge the status quo, make architectural trade-offs, and design solutions that scale across a complex, cloud-native environment. What Makes This Role Different

The candidate must demonstrate they haven't just maintained a stack, but actively designed or re-engineered an observability ecosystem in a complex, cloud-native environment.
Experience in a leading technical role, shaping architectural vision and direction rather than just executing pre-defined tickets.
Deep understanding of modern infrastructures (e.g., Kubernetes, Distributed Tracing, Service Mesh) and the ability to make strategic architectural trade-offs

Deep expertise with protocols and tools like OpenTelemetry (OTel), Prometheus, or Grafana Tempo.
Strong communication skills to transition teams from reactive monitoring to proactive, insight-driven engineering.
Familiarity with the dynamics and compliance requirements of the Dutch public sector (Reminder: Banking experience is excluded here).
