De Opdrachtomschrijving

For this role, we work with a tailored CV and a short self‑assessment to ensure alignment before interviews are scheduled. Details are shared via the recruitment channel. About KPN & the QCarbon / Kult Team Within KPN we are building and operating world‑class networks (No.1 globally in 5G) and continuously digitalising our processes. A key part of this is developing secure, reliable and scalable internal platforms that support critical business operations. The QCarbon / Kult team develops and maintains a suite of security applications that support Business Continuity Management and Penetration Test Management. These applications are business‑critical and used across the organisation. We are a DevOps product team consisting of:

4 experienced, knowledge‑driven engineers

1 product owner

1 scrum master

The team is international, based in Rotterdam (The Netherlands), and works in a hybrid setup. We collaborate closely with stakeholders from Security, Infrastructure, AWS and the business. Stakeholders actively join refinement sessions and sprint moments and visit the team weekly at the office. Currently, we are rebuilding the backend from Django / Django REST Framework / Redis to FastAPI and SQLAlchemy, running in Docker on AWS. This modernisation is expected to be finalised in summer ’26 and will enable new functional and technical features. The frontend plays a key role in effectively consuming these APIs and ensuring a consistent, secure and high‑quality user experience. Position overview QCarbon is crucial to making Business Continuity Management a success within KPN. As a frontend developer, you contribute to a security-critical platform where correctness, consistency and maintainability are essential. You will work on complex security applications where correctness, consistency and clarity are essential. This role requires not only a strong technical foundation, but also an understanding of the functional and business context in which the application is used. You work closely with your teammates and stakeholders, contributing directly to design decisions, implementation and continuous improvement of the platform. Key responsibilities Investigate, implement and test best‑in‑class and innovative frontend solutions to improve the platform as a whole Maintain the existing application and actively propose functional and technical improvements Deliver high‑quality, well‑structured and maintainable frontend code with a keen eye for detail Solve complex problems while ensuring consistency, reliability and scalability Actively participate in Agile / Scrum ceremonies as a team player Take end‑to‑end ownership of features: you build it, you run it, you own it What’s in it for you Work in a small, experienced product team with high autonomy and ownership Gain exposure to security-critical, business-essential systems Short feedback loops with stakeholders influencing production directly Successful candidates typically demonstrate: A strong analytical mindset, able to interpret data flows and performance and translate them into actionable improvements Excellent written and verbal communication skills (including technical writing), with the ability to operate confidently in English A proactive, self‑starting attitude combined with strong collaboration skills Intrinsic motivation to learn new technologies and share knowledge with colleagues A strong sense of ownership, prioritising outcomes over output The ability to align and collaborate within the team rather than working in isolation A solution‑oriented mindset, with continuous improvement as a natural habit A keen eye for quality and detail within a complex, security‑sensitive domain Experience working in Scrum / Agile product teams A clear “you build it, you run it, you own it” mentality
