As a Data Engineer within GreenWave, you will be responsible for the data and software platform powering passenger timeslot services. You will build and maintain backend applications, APIs, and data-intensive services that support operational decision making at Schiphol. Working closely with product owners, data scientists, and other engineers from other teams, you will translate business needs into reliable production-grade solutions. You put your talents to work at:
- Design, develop and maintain Python backend services and REST APIs used by internal and external consumers.
- Build reliable integrations and data pipelines supporting GreenWave products and operational processes.
- Deploy, monitor and operate applications in production environments using Azure and Kubernetes/OpenShift.
- Ensure platform reliability through monitoring, troubleshooting, incident resolution and continuous improvements.
- Collaborate with data scientists to productionize models and data products.
- Contribute to software engineering standards, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and code quality practices.

- Strong Python backend and REST API development experience.
- Experience with OpenShift and/or Kubernetes.
- Strong PostgreSQL and SQL skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, including Azure Database for PostgreSQL.
- Experience deploying and operating applications in production.
- Experience with production monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident resolution.
- Experience delivering data-intensive platforms and/or APIs consumed externally.
- Experience with CI/CD and git-based development workflows.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Dutch.
- English is the primary language used within the development team, while Dutch is important for collaborating effectively with stakeholders across Schiphol. Besides the experience written above, it would be nice to have:
- Databricks.
- Celery, RabbitMQ, Redis or similar asynchronous processing technologies.
- Experience with highly available systems or operationally critical systems.
